LIFE’S Inside Track #719 – Wealth by Design
What if the smallest act of faith could multiply your life far beyond money?
I’ve learned over the years that faith doesn’t always announce itself with trumpets. Sometimes it whispers, quietly inviting us to take one tiny step forward — one that doesn’t make sense on paper, but feels right in the heart.
When Ken and I began our journey, we didn’t have much. We were newly married, deeply in love, and… deeply in debt. Everything looked impossible. We were juggling bills, losing sleep, and trying to keep hope alive while our finances — and honestly, our relationship — were barely hanging on.
But here’s what I didn’t realize then: God can do remarkable things with “a little.”
The Power of a Small Beginning
One of my favourite stories is the boy with the loaves and fishes. It’s a simple image — a young boy holding out his small lunch, trusting it might help somehow. That story mirrored my heart in those early days. We didn’t have a lot, but we started with what we did have.
We gave 1%. That’s all we could do. One percent.
It felt like a drop in the bucket — but it was a drop of obedience, and obedience always creates movement. That 1% became 2%, then 5%, and over time, 10%. Slowly, we began to see change. Not just in our bank account, but in our mindset, our habits, and our faith.
Faith That Refines, Not Replaces, Wisdom
I used to think faith meant jumping blindly — that somehow trusting God meant ignoring common sense. But I’ve come to see that true faith isn’t reckless. It’s refined.
Faith invites us to listen — to slow down, plan wisely, and still believe in something greater than our calculations. It calls us to balance stewardship with surrender.
I remember sitting at our kitchen table, calculator in hand, tears in my eyes, saying to Ken, “How can we give when we can barely make ends meet?” And yet, we did — not because we were confident, but because we were desperate to trust something beyond our own effort.
That decision reshaped everything.
We stopped reacting from fear and started responding with faith. We learned to hold our money, our plans, even our dreams loosely — trusting that if God could multiply a boy’s lunch, He could multiply our obedience too.
Faith Over Fear — Even When It’s Quiet
There’s a kind of peace that doesn’t come from numbers or security. It’s the peace that comes when you stop trying to control the outcome.
I’ve met so many families who tell me, “We started praying about our finances, and somehow, things just began to line up.” The car lasted longer. The bills stopped piling. An opportunity showed up right on time.
Those aren’t coincidences — they’re reminders that faith turns our striving into partnership with God.
Faith and wisdom walk together. Fear tells us to hold tight. Faith teaches us to open our hands.
Overflow Beyond Money
Faith doesn’t only multiply finances — it multiplies peace, relationships, and purpose. It spills over into how we treat others, how we make decisions, and how we handle what’s entrusted to us.
When we began to trust more deeply, we noticed our hearts softening. The stress that had once filled our home slowly gave way to laughter and gratitude. We started giving more generously, not just money but time, encouragement, and care.
And as we gave, we kept receiving — not always financially, but in the ways that truly matter: friendship, wisdom, peace.
Your Little Is Enough
Maybe you feel like what you have — financially, emotionally, or spiritually — isn’t enough to make a difference. I want you to hear this clearly: your little is enough when it’s placed in the right hands.
Faith isn’t about ignoring the numbers. It’s about inviting God into them. It’s about aligning your effort with His overflow.
So wherever you are today — whether you’re starting from scratch, rebuilding after loss, or simply trying to move from fear into faith — know this: He delights in using small beginnings to create extraordinary outcomes.
Start with your “little.”
Give what you can.
Trust what you can’t control.
And watch — because faith truly does multiply more than money.
